Friday Fleeker Friend Feature With A Twist

Hello my Friendly Fleekers!

This week's Fleeker Feature is going to be a little different.  I was talking to my friend about what I was going to blog about since I didn't have a Fleeker Friend to interview.  She said I could do her but it would be pretty pointless since she doesn't put pen to paper.  I got thinking that would be a great topic!

She kind of felt bad that she wanted to help me but that she didn't have the traditional planner that most of my Fleeker Friends have.  I got thinking about it and there is nothing wrong with that.

Her method is mental.  She keeps a mental list of things that she needed to do and ideas.  I actually admire that in a person.  Not just because she's one of my best friends but because she can remember things without writing them down.  Sometimes she makes a list on a piece of paper.

The point I am trying to make is there is no wrong way to plan.  If you are new to planners and Filofaxes and bullet journals just remember there is no right or wrong way.

There is a huge community on Facebook and Pinterest  and in the blogger world where you see many pictures and videos of people who spend hours and hours on their planners decorating them.  I think that is amazing!  The work they put into them is just fascinating to me.

Here are a few examples (disclamer: I am in no way taking credit for these ideas.  I give 100% credit to the authors of the videos and pinterest photos.  I am not trying to steal the content or anything of that nature.  I am merely trying to point out the difference of planners to prove my point)

Some of my favorites come from Jen at My Purpley Life.  I know I mention her a lot but she is where I got my first inspiration to decorate.

There are other more simple was to plan jut like my friend and her mental planning.  There are smart phones and just plain old planners from Staples.

My mom has been using basic planner for years.  It works just fine for her.

My friend uses her God given brain.  That works for her.

I use a bullet journal.  That works good for me.

Have I reiterated the point enough?  Lol.

So.  When it comes to all of the pens and washi washi tape and stickers and phones and brains there is no wrong or right way.  You just do what works for you.  Sometimes it will evolve over time like mine did

Here is an example of my filofax pages.  They worked really well.  I don't have a picture with me but at the beginning of that year I didn't even decorate.  Now I am using a completely different format.

So remember Fleekers (as if you could forget from my reiteration in this post)
No matter what planner you use Filofax, bullet journal, phone or brain as long as it works for you that is what matters.

Thanks for reading!  Sorry for more of the rant post.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

As always Happy Fleeking!

How I Plan

Hello Fellow Fleekers

Hope your week is going good so far!  Hang in there!  It's almost the weekend!  To get us through I thought I would post about how I plan in my bullet journal.  This is pretty long and very detailed.  I really hope it makes sense.  If you have questions let me know.

As I enter into the world of planners and bullet journals I am amazed at the thousands of ways to decorate, plan and use these tools.  I am so grateful for the opportunity to learn from you and gain new insight on how to be more productive!  So than you first and foremost.

I would like to share how I plan and may be give one of you some inspiration or may be just enjoyment of reading a blog.

So.  I have introduced you to the general layout of my bullet journal here.

Now.  Let's get into the nitty gritty of how I make this thing work.

So this is my brain dump as they call it in the bullet journal world.  There are many ways to do it.  I have sectioned off my days as to make it where I can't have an overload of things to do.  I get very stressed out if I have too many.  I got my inspiration from this person on YouTube .  I loved the way she organized her brain dump.  I already had a weekly spread but wanted something like that in my planner.

So.  Here is how my brain dump works.  I put everything I can think of that I need to do.  As shown in the photo below,  I added a few things to my list from above.
The blue is new items and black are things carried over from the previous days.

Now.  What the heck are those red stars for?  Well.  I use those to prioritize.  I have a week spread as pictured here:

I see what appointments I have and what "free" time I have to get things done.  I write down in my weekly list what I think I can get done.  If (and that's a big if) I get all of those things done then I go back to my daily brain dump and work on some more items.

At the end of the day if I don't get things done I leave the box empty and put it in black on the next day.

Now.  How we doing?  Hanging in there?  This might be confusing.  I'm hoping I get lots of questions if you have any.

OK.  So let's pretend it's Saturday.  I go through my week in my brain dump and look at everything that hasn't been done.  I have highlighted those (no color code specifics here just a different color each week).

If I know I'm not getting it done I put an arrow on it indicating that it has been moved elsewhere.  If I have done it I put a check by it (even if I have written it down several times).
Now those things with an arrow go into my weekly goal spread.  They specifically go in my priority box as shown below.

Phew!  I think that is everything!  Did you make it?  I hope so.  Again sorry for the length and very detailed description.  I hope I didn't give anyone a headache.  If you are still confused or would like more explanation comment below!

How do you plan?  I would love to see and read your ideas!

Accessories Travel Bag

Hello Fleeker Friends!

Welcome to a new week!  And welcome to February!  Can you believe it's here?  I sure can't!!!

To start the month I would like to show you what I take with me on the go and how I transport them.

Here is the bag I use.  I have gone through so many bags.  I  am a bag geek.   I pick up a new bag almost every time I go to Walmart or Target.  I need a new bag like I need a hole in the head.

This bag is from the Orla Kiely bag collection at Target.  They are VERY popular amongst the planner community.  Here are some YouTube videos that you might enjoy on how to organize your accessories;

I decided on this one because it has two clear plastic pocket compartments that I can easily see what I need and grab them with out rummaging too much through the other items.  I like bags that are easily accessible when it comes to getting what I need to use to organize my planner.  I hope that makes sense.

Here are some pictures of what the bag looks like opened.

I also like the portability (is that a word) of the bag.  It is small and somewhat compact.  I carry around a somewhat big bag.  My family would call it a suitcase but I would call it a medium size purse.  So this fits very nicely inside.

Now.  Let's take a closer look inside shall we?

I have a confession to make.  I am in LOVE with pens.  Highlighters too but mostly pens.  I may need to go to a 12 step recovery program for the amount of pens that I have.  I do realize that there are people with a lot more then me but I do have a lot of pens. These are just a few that I carry around. And that I have found myself loving to use for my planner.  I have used many others on which I can do a review if wanted.

Pentel Pastel Pens.  These I use for more decorating.

Pentel med point RSVP pens.  I have been loving these lately.

These are frixion highlighters I believe I got at Staples.  The yellow pen is from a pack at a local grocery store.
I use these to color code on my monthly calendar.

A mechanical pencil I got at a local grocery store.  A sharpie pen that I use for labeling my tab flags.

So there we have it for the pens.

I hope you aren't tired cause we have more to go!
Now comes the fun stuff!

I use the emlers tape for sticking downpost it notes.
The white out...self explanatory.  I hate the old fashioned liquid.  I love love love the tape.

Now for the post it notes!  Most of these I got at Walmart.  My mom picked up the green hat ones from the clearance section at Staples.

These are my assortment of page markers and flags that I use.

Well.  I hope you enjoyed how I use my travel bag.  As far as washi tape I don't always carry that around.  If I were to go on Vaca then I would take a couple and throw it in there with my little scissors.

What accessories do you carry around?  How do you transport them?

Thanks for reading!

As always happy Fleeking!

Oh ya.  I think I mentioned something about a GiftAway on Instagram....
